Miles Anderson
Member of Parliament for Waitaki
Miles will always advocate for better health services for the entire Waitaki electorate. “In New Zealand, 70% of the people who are more than 2 hours’ drive away from a tertiary hospital live the Central Otago and Southern Lakes collective district.”
Miles supports the work being done to bring solutions to the region that can reduce travel and wait times and increase the delivery of quality localised health care services. “Our rural communities have not been adequately resourced in comparison with most urban counterparts, and this region is overdue for effective quick wins in the here-and-now, backed up by well researched, cohesive long-term solutions. By combining the strengths of a broad range of committed parties, working together, we can achieve better health outcomes for our provincial communities and get back on track to having an equitable health system.”
Todd Stephenson
Act List Member of Parliment living in Queenstown
“Having a background in the health sector, I could see that our region is going to miss out on appropriate health services without a proactive approach.
The work on the Otago Central Lakes Health Project has brought together government and non-government stakeholders to understand and discuss how healthcare and related services across the Southern Lakes could be delivered. I’m always looking to ensure everyone’s views are represented and considered.
I am pleased to be able to support a project which seeks to do that while looking to improve health outcomes and reduce inequities for everyone in our community.”
